The amplitude-frequency electro-optic (EO) modulation by nanocomposite of room-temperature nematic liquid crystal heptylcyanobiphenyl (7CB) and 3 wt.% silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) of size ~7nm, was studied. Thin (25μm) films of SiNPs-7CB soft gel exhibit an extended and flat second-harmonic EO modulation that can be of potential interest for EO applications.Full Text: PDF
